EVA 1ft Foam Roller
This foam roller is great to use to massage sore muscles after a hard game, practice, or workout. Using a foam roller helps release tension in the muscles, relieve muscle soreness, and improve flexibility and range of motion. We recommend trying these exercises below:
Pec Stretch:
-Lie with your head and spine supported on the foam roller with your feet flat on the floor.
-Place your arms directly out to the side with palms up, forming the letter "T".
-Hold that position for 2-3 minutes.
Therapist Notes: Make sure your low back remains flat on the roller while you move the roller 3 inches to the left and right of your spine, slowly unwinding the muscles along your back. You should feel a light stretch in your upper chest and arms.
Quadriceps Mobilization:
-Begin on your elbows with your thighs resting on a foam roller and both legs straight.
-Use your arms to roll over the foam roller for the full length of your quadriceps (from your hips to just above your knees).
-Repeat as directed.
Therapist Notes: Roll your thigh muscles (quads) out for 30-60 seconds.
Hamstrings Mobilization:
- Begin by sitting on the floor and placing foam roller under your knees.
-Put your hands flat on the ground next to your hips.
- Lift your body off the floor and slowly move your body forwards and backwards so that the foam rolls from your knee to your sit bones/buttocks.
-Hold and repeat.
Therapist Notes: Let your legs relax as you move your body up and down the foam roller for 60 seconds.
Calf Mobilization:
-Begin by sitting on the floor and placing foam roller under your lower calves.
-Put your hands flat on the ground next to your hips. -Lift your body off the floor and slowly move your body forwards and backwards so that the foam rolls along your calf muscles.
-Perform this foward and backwards motion by flexing and extending your shoulders, You may apply pressure down against the foam roller as tolerated.
-Hold and repeat.
Therapist Notes: Let your legs hand down- foam roll your calf muscles back and forth for 30-60 seconds.
Piriformis Mobilization:
Starting position:
-Sit on a foam roller on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat.
To roll out your RIGHT hip:
-Cross your RIGHT left over your LEFT knee.
-Place your RIGHT hand on the floor behind you and your LEFT hand on the shin of your RIGHT leg for support. Movement:
- Shift your weight onto your right hip. Find a tender point and oscillate on that spot for 30-60 seconds.
Alternate positions by switching to your left leg to stimulate left hip muscles.
Therapist Notes: Lean your body to the side to roll the back side of your hip for up to 30 seconds each side.
